Tention automatically removes filler words (um, uh, like, you know) and cuts long silences from your recording. You set how tight those cuts are once, and the setting applies to every take.
After you record on the phone and the take uploads, Tention reads the transcript from your recording. It then:
The cut plan is produced on tap - it is pure arithmetic over the word timings, not an AI pass, so it is fast.
Business accounts: Cut settings are per-user, not per-business. Each team member sets their own pace. The brand voice field (also in the profile) lets you add a plain-text note that is passed into future Smart edit passes to keep cuts in your voice.
Go to tention.app/settings?tab=profile (or open Settings and choose "Edit profile" from the left rail).
Under The pacing section, choose your PACE:
Tight - trims hard, fast pace (applies a 0.5x multiplier to your silence padding).
Balanced - a natural rhythm (default, 1.0x multiplier).
Breathing - leaves room to land (1.5x multiplier).
Under BREATH BETWEEN CUTS, drag the slider from Snappy to Roomy. This sets how much silence is left between words after a cut (0-1000 ms, default 300 ms).
Under TRIM PADDING, set the silence kept at the Start of video and End of video (in ms). Zero means the video starts on your first word and ends on your last.
Under FILLER WORDS, toggle Drop filler words on or off. When on, Tention removes um, uh, er, ah, hmm, like, basically, literally, actually, "you know", "i mean", "sort of", and "kind of".
Under CUT RULES, check any extra rules you want:
Keep sentences whole - never cuts mid-sentence.
Keep rhetorical filler - leaves intentional pauses and beats.
Cut brand-check flags - drops lines the brand check flagged.
One question a day. Filmed with you, checked against your guidelines, posted everywhere.
