About this list
The Munna Co Pty Ltd (ABN 14 660 483 581), which runs Tention, uses the outside services below to provide Tention. Each one receives only the information it needs to do its job for us. This page lists what each service receives and the country where it is based or processes the information.
We keep this list current. If we add a service that receives your recordings, transcripts or guidelines, we will update this page before we start sending it information, and tell account holders by email or in the app.
Many of these services are based in the United States. Our main database and our backend computing are in Sydney, Australia. For more about overseas handling, see the "Sending information overseas" section of our Privacy Policy.
Running the app and storing your information
- Vercel
- Runs our backend and web app. Our backend functions run in Sydney, Australia. Vercel is a United States company and its network and logs may be handled in the United States and other countries. Receives everything you send to the app while it is processed, and our short-lived technical logs.
- Neon
- Our main database: your account, profile, guidelines, content, transcripts, brand check reports and usage records. Australia (Sydney).
- Cloudflare (R2 storage)
- Stores your recordings, audio, voice notes, rendered videos and thumbnails. Cloudflare is a United States company.
- Cloudflare (Turnstile)
- Checks that visitors to our sign-up and onboarding pages are people, not bots. Receives your IP address and browser signals. Global network, United States company.
- Clerk
- Sign-in and account security. Receives your name, email address, your password if you set one (Clerk holds it; it is not stored in our database), sign-in codes, and the device and IP address you sign in from. Sends sign-in codes and team invitation emails. United States.
- Inngest
- Runs our background jobs, such as transcription, captions and brand checks. To do this it receives, and keeps in its job history for a period (at most 90 days), the information those jobs work on: audio, transcripts with word timings, onboarding answers, website summaries and messages from connected social accounts. United States.
- Upstash
- Limits how often requests can be made, to protect the service. Receives IP addresses and account identifiers as counters and, during sign-up at tention.app/join, a scrambled form of the email address you typed and your licence number, each for up to a day. Upstash is a United States company.
Transcription and AI
- Deepgram
- Turns speech into text. Receives the audio of your recordings (for videos uploaded on the web, the video file itself), your voice notes, and the audio of any take you check before saving. Returns the transcript with word timings, and for voice notes, which speaker said what. United States. Every request we send carries Deepgram's opt-out from its model-improvement programme, so Deepgram does not use it to train its models.
- Google (Gemini API)
- Runs the brand check (it compares your transcript with the guidelines you wrote), drafts and checks captions, summarises your website, suggests topics from your onboarding answers, and checks that topic summaries do not identify anyone. Receives the relevant transcript, guideline, caption, website and onboarding text. United States and other countries where Google operates.
- Anthropic (Claude API)
- Writes suggested questions and angles, drafts your profile bio, refines ideas you type, pulls quotable lines from voice notes for your Quote Bank, and organises topics. Receives your profile, answers, topics, idea text and voice-note transcripts. United States.
- OpenAI
- Turns short topic labels and news headlines into numbers so we can match news to your interests. Receives topic labels, which can come from words you typed. It does not receive your recordings or transcripts. United States.
Video, publishing and payments
- Amazon Web Services
- Renders your edited videos with captions, and holds the rendered files in its storage. Receives your video (through a short-lived link) and the caption words. United States (N. Virginia).
- Zernio
- Connects your social accounts and schedules and publishes your posts. Holds the connection to each social account you link. Receives your videos, captions and posting times. Returns post performance figures and comments from your connected accounts. Spain (Zernio Software SL). Stores media in Western Europe and uses its own providers, including in the United States.
- Mapbox
- Looks up the suburb or city you type when you set your location. Receives the place name you type. United States.
- Stripe
- Takes payments on the web and runs the free trials started at tention.app/join. Receives your name, email address, billing address, optional tax number and card details (Stripe holds the card, we never see it), plus a record that you accepted our Terms, your marketing preference, and any referral or advertising code attached to your visit. For a trial started at tention.app/join, it also receives your credit representative or licence number and the version of our AI notice you agreed to. Stripe Payments Australia Pty Ltd, with processing in the United States and other countries.
- RevenueCat
- Manages iPhone subscriptions. Receives your Tention account identifier and your Apple purchase records. United States.
- Expo
- Delivers updates to the iPhone app. Receives technical details of the app and device when the app checks for an update. United States.
Email and alerts to our team
- Resend
- Sends our emails to you: sign-up codes, trial reminders and offers. Receives your email address, your name and what the email says. Keeps a copy of each email for 30 days. We have switched off its open and click tracking. Resend is a United States company. Our emails are sent from its Tokyo region (Japan), and Resend stores its account data, including its records of our emails, in the United States.
- Telegram
- Carries alerts to our team's chat so a person can act on them. For a "Tell us your details" request, receives what you typed (your name, email address, and any number, business name and website you gave) and the one-time link we send you. Alerts about sign-ups, sign-up codes and payments carry your name, licence numbers, licensee, the plan you chose, when your first payment is due, and payment amounts and whether a payment went through. It never receives your recordings, transcripts or guidelines. Messages stay in our chat until we delete them. Telegram Messenger Inc. Telegram's team is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and it stores chats in data centres in several countries, which it does not name.
Keeping the service working
- Sentry
- Records crashes and errors in the app and backend so we can fix them. Receives error details, device and app details, and your account identifier. Some content fields are removed by name before sending, but error reports can contain parts of what the app was handling at the time. United States.
- Axiom
- Stores our operational logs for 30 days. Receives account identifiers, website domain names, error messages and counts. It does not receive names, email addresses, transcripts or guideline text. United States.
Our website
- Webflow
- Hosts our marketing website and these legal pages. Receives the usual details any website receives, such as your IP address and browser. United States.
- Google (Tag Manager and Analytics)
- Measures how people use our website. United States and other countries where Google operates. See our Cookie Notice.
- Meta
- Measures our Facebook and Instagram advertising. United States and other countries where Meta operates. Meta also uses this information for its own purposes, under its own terms and privacy policy. See our Cookie Notice.
- Microsoft Clarity
- Records how visitors use our marketing website and sign-up pages, as session replays and heatmaps, with typed text masked. United States. Microsoft also uses this information for its own purposes, under its own terms and privacy statement. See our Cookie Notice.
Services that act for themselves, not for us
- Apple
- If you subscribe in the iPhone app, Apple takes the payment under its own terms and privacy policy and tells us the purchase happened. We never see your card.
- Social networks
- When you publish to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, X, Threads or Google Business Profile, your post is handled by that network under its own terms and privacy policy.
- News sources
- We search news services (such as NewsData and Event Registry) and public news sites using topic keywords and a country. We do not send them your personal information. When the app shows a news image or opens an article, your device connects directly to that news site.
Changes
29 Sep 2026: added Resend (our emails) and Telegram (alerts to our team) for sign-up at tention.app/join. Stripe now also runs the free trials started there; Upstash notes what it holds during sign-up.
